WBK has completed several transportation related projects for INDOT, CSX, Indiana Rail Road, Ports of Indiana (Mt. Vernon), Toyota Motor Manufacturing, ALCOA, the Evansville Airport Authority, and several municipal roadway projects in IN and KY.
New rail development projects continue to be an integral part of WBK’s construction services provided to Power, Mining and Industrial clients who send their products to the marketplace by rail or by barge. WBK has constructed Rail Load-out Loops both single and double track for ALCOA and Gibson County Coal.
WBK has worked as a subcontractor with parent company Weddle Brothers Construction on bridge approaches for the I-69 Interstate. WBK has also completed the second major phase of the University Parkway Extension joining the University of Southern Indiana Campus with Interstate 64.
“The job was done on time, and from a safety standpoint, it was very important that we got this completed. WB•Koester did an exemplary job. They met all our deadlines and performed as a professional partner on the project.”
WBK completed Package 5 & Package 8 for the Evansville Airport Authority. Although on paper the project looked straight-forward, the actual scope involved a jig-saw series of enabling projects that had to be coordinated and completed together. A state highway and a country road had to be relocated, with floodway improvements and mitigation of a creek. Overhead power-lines had to be removed and buried to improve runway approach standards, and a taxiway had to be realigned and extended. Over a million cubic yards of soil had to be excavated, transported, and placed in preparation of the RunWay Expansion.
